We are an equestrian brand driven by our passion for polo, riding and British heritage. We have always been grounded in the sport and place emphasis on the unique heritage of the British polo scene.

Our Story

Hook Polo was founded in 2018 by polo player and Army Reserve Officer Robert Cameron. He wanted to challenge the status quo, bringing new ideas and brighter colours to the polo world, keeping the best of the past but embracing the excitement of the future.

Where it all began...

In 2018, founder Robert Cameron - a keen polo player and designer - put his skills to work creating vibrant patterns and polo equipment with a twist. It all started with the Hook Polo Gloves.

Having spotted a gap in what was a stuffy and outdated market he ordered a small batch of gloves and began selling to friends and the wider polo community. They were an instant hit and the rest is history...

The launch

We launched online with our range of colourful polo gloves, unlike anything seen before. Suddenly orders from all corners of the globe came trickling in and we saw the beginning of a community of loyal customers and the forming of a genuine polo brand.

In 2018 we had our first trade show at the Cowdray Gold Cup (still our favourite event). Going back after all these years, it's always touching to bump into the same customers who were there from the start.

Leather goods

Off the back of the success from our polo gloves, we looked to take the brand into the luxury lifestyle sector with a range of leather goods and accessories - all with a playful twist. We worked with famous British leather supplies and manufacturers to produce our range of travels bags, needlepoint belts and wallets.

Soon we became known for our signature patterns, unmatched quality and attention to detail.

First Clothing collection

In 2020, like most, we had plenty of spare time. It was a great excuse to design and create our first clothing collection. We put our toes in the water of the clothing world and haven't looked back.

Releasing a small collection of cotton tees, sweatshirts and hoodies all sported by top British polo players, we began to form Hook Polo into the clothing brand it is today.

Crowdfunding

In 2021, Robert turned to his customers and successfully raised investment from 11 loyal supporters. With this came not only funds to grow the business, but advice along the way from a group of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and with a common passion for polo.

The funds allowed Hook Polo to branch out into a broader range of products, including the Clubhouse Collection and equestrian range for ladies.

Factory visits

2022 was a year for craftsmanship and perfecting the product.

We spent time exploring various garment techniques, fabrics and visited factories. This included a family-run cotton manufacturer in Barcelos, Portugal, leather producers in the UK and needlepoint specialists in Asia. The outcome was an evolution of the brand, a popular Clubhouse Collection and a year of increased market presence.

Equestrian collection

We aimed to bridge the gap between polo and other equestrian disciplines with our range of vibrant riding gloves, leggings and base layers. We received a fantastic response from the equestrian world and are proud to be on of the few lifestyle brands that genuinely serves the disciplines it seeks to represent.

A big year...

Fast forward to today… 2024 has been a year of significant change and building. We on-boarded two new investors at the beginning of the year - one of whom is a manufacturing expert - which has allowed us the flexibility to try new products and techniques.

Our new collections blend Hook Polo’s authentic roots in the sport with a modern take on heritage classics and British style. Our biggest news to date: Hook Polo was appointed sponsor and official clothing partner to British Army Polo. The “Hook Army Polo Team” made its debut on the UK polo circuit this season and we have proudly unveiled our first co-branded collection of official merchandise.

Having built up a great community, particularly amongst the polo world, we now aspire to be the UK’s number one polo lifestyle brand.

In 2024, one of our original investors, George Hill, was appointed as a Director and has been working closely alongside Robert. Like Robert, George serves in the Army Reserve and is a keen polo player.

With our strong management team, input from key investors and manufacturing partners, we are well positioned to serve our global community of players and admirers of the sport.
